About

Get ready for the Shifty Drift on Saturday, April 13, 2024! Join Hilltop Ski Area and the Trek Bicycle Store of Anchorage for an insane fat bike downhill race.

Similar to snowboard cross, each racer competes against three other riders on a downhill course featuring dual-panel ski racing gates, jumps, and berms. Each racer will get four timed runs. Men's and women's standings will be determined by the lowest combined times. The course at Hilltop will be relatively short and shouldn’t take more than 60 seconds to complete. What to bring/What is provided

Participants must use a fat tire bike with at least 3.8"-wide tires. Narrower tires will not be allowed on the course. Helmets are mandatory.

Racers will wear ski race bibs. It is important that the bibs be returned to Hilltop after the race. You may not keep them.

Course

Hilltop is constructing a snowboard cross course that will be repurposed for our event. Four participants will race down a single course. The course will be defined by ski gates and features. Racers must pass through the gates. If a gate is missed, the rider must return uphill to correctly navigate the course, or the rider will be disqualified.

Each rider will complete four total runs. The four lowest cumulative male and female times will determine the standings.

Awards

An award ceremony will take place after the last racers are finished. The ceremony will take place in front of the Hilltop Chalet in the beer garden.

Awards will be presented based on the categories determined by the race director. Categories will be determined by the number of people who sign up.

Winners will be determined by the lowest cumulative time after each participant completes four rounds.
